Woke up to room service at 7:30 this morning. Believe it or not, we felt like that was sleeping in since we’ve been getting up so early on this trip. Bob really wanted to do the treadmill this morning since we hadn’t gotten much exercise this week. Surprisingly the gym was really busy. In fact there wasn’t two treadmills open so I ended up doing the elliptical. It worked. I did three miles. Based on what I’ve eaten so far this trip I should’ve done 300 miles. On the way back to the room Bob grinned and said he listened to “his man” on the treadmill. “His man” would be Kenny. I can’t wait to tell Cari about that. The ship wasn’t rockin’ nearly as much this morning as last night but I still felt like I had my drunk on while on the elliptical. It was a weird feeling.

11:00 – meeting with Naturalist Milos (pronounced Mee-losh). He was very entertaining and informative. There are several more meetings with him throughout the cruise and we’ll learn more about the animals we’re hoping to see.

On our way to get some lunch we were waylaid walking through the Emporium doing some shopping. (Bob realized Friday night he forgot to pack socks for our formal night in The Olympic restaurant – which reminded me I forgot to pack Knee Highs! UGH!) I found some beautiful earrings for Cari and myself. Bob snagged this great deal on a jacket on clearance for $10. This is the last Alaska cruise of the season so lots of stuff was on clearance. By the time we got to lunch we were starving. There was a brunch from 10:00am-1:00pm we were trying to make. We had about 15 minutes to spare. All the food we’ve had so far has been really good.

On the way back to our room we stopped at a couple of the stores still looking for socks and knee highs – no luck. We were scheduled to be at the Hubbard Glacier at 2:00pm so we came back to the room to put thermals on and suit up to find a good viewing spot on the deck. In the end we decided to come back to our room and watch from our balcony. It was a good choice. As we got closer you could see the ice littering the water and actually hear it melting. It sounded like Rice Crispi’s crackling.

The glacier itself was incredibly beautiful. It’s huge and we only got to see a small snap shot of it. The ice truly is a deep blue color. And it’s striped. My only bitch about anything on this cruise is the communication system is flawed. Milos was on the speaker system telling us all kinds of things but unless you were in a public area you can’t hear him. If you’re in your room or on your balcony you can’t hear squat. That sucks because I’m sure he had a lot of good information to share. We did find out they videoed everything and a DVD of the whole thing is available for purchase. We’ll definitely get one of those. As we approached the glacier you could hear these loud booms that we knew was calving. With some luck I actually managed to get a couple of them documented with my camera. It was so cool!!!

Dinner in The Olympic was divine. I could get used to this pampering thing. We were treated like a King and Queen. And we even had lobster tail for dinner. It was perfect! The entire evening was perfect. Pretty cool milking this 25th anniversary thing. LOL By the time we waddled out of there it was time to head to the 8:30 show. I’ve always heard you can’t go hungry on a cruise. It’s true. Good Gawd they know how to feed a person!

As we walked into the Celebrity Theater for the show they were handing out complimentary glasses of champagne or wine along with more petit fours. We both took a glass of red wine but ended up not drinking it. We were just too full. Neither one of us knew the theme tonight was “Simply Ballroom.” I’m not sure we would’ve pushed to see it. Not that it wasn’t a fabulous show; it’s just not our thing. Both of us were itching for it to be over. I’m sure all the seniors enjoyed the hell out of it though. I was sitting there thinking, “I need to go back to the room and put some country on.” LOL

Justin Wade on guitar came on at 9:45 in the Cova Café so we made our way to the other end of the ship, found a comfortable spot and planted. Metro Park (an A cappella group) came on after Justin and we wanted to see both of them. It was a good decision. We’ll definitely catch them later during the week.

Well we ordered some Chamomile tea and milk a long time ago. I’m thinking it’s been well over and hour. I guess I’m going to try and take my vitamins with water tonight and just go to bed. (Yeah, it never came that night. Not sure what happened.)

Juneau tomorrow! J
