Time to go home. Such a sad day. As we showered, dressed and got our last few things together before going down to breakfast it was pretty gloomy. It had been such an awesome trip we weren’t ready for it to be over.

Soon it was time to make our way to the dining room. Bob made a discovery. He packed all his shoes. FRO. The boy had no shoes to wear until we got to customs where our luggage was. He was so pissed. I, however, thought it was pretty damn funny. He did not. We met the Riddles and walked to the elevator and Gigi looked down, then back up at Bob with this question mark on her face … It was at this point he started seeing the humor in the situation. (I don’t know how I forgot to take a picture of his sock feet!) Of course I felt the need to share this little piece of news with all our “friends” in the dining room. And yes, they thought it was as hysterical as the rest of us. It was sometime during breakfast I got the bright idea to show my sympathy by taking my shoes off as well. That lasted until it was time to disembark and it was raining. Not gonna happen! 🙂

We got a porter to help us with our luggage – after Bob got his shoes – and breezed right through customs. It was great. We ended up at the airport before 9am and our flight didn’t leave until 1pm. The Southwest check-in gate wasn’t even open. So we did what anyone drowning their sorrows would do at that time of morning. We found a bar and had a beer. (I broke my record that morning. Previously the earliest I had started drinking was 10am the morning of Heidi’s wedding.) By the time we finished, we could check-in and unload most of our luggage. As we moseyed to our gate we stopped at the last bar to have a snack and another beer. Finally, there wasn’t much else to do but go to our gate and wait to board.Thankfully we landed safely in Norfolk without any hiccups to 45 degree weather and rain. Welcome home.
