I can’t bloody believe it’s been a week already. Thank goodness we still have another week because if we had to go home now it wouldn’t even feel like we’ve had a vacation. LOL I know, that’s bad. We just stay busy on our vacations. We can’t help it. When we go somewhere we’ve never been before, we have to go and do and see! No way are we just gonna plant on a beach somewhere and veg. That’s what cruises are for. Just sayin’.
Our flight left Honolulu at 11:45 so we had plenty of time to get to the airport. We tried to find somewhere to grab breakfast on the way out. There is literally, nowhere. One restaurant didn’t open until 8am. That wasn’t gonna work. Another one was closed. We ended up stopping at a neat little coffee shop and got some Aloha smoothies to go. That worked. The rest of the drive to the airport was pretty smooth and uneventful. The short 40 minute flight to Kauai was quick and uneventful. That’s a good thing. Here are our first views of this beautiful garden island.

As on Oahu, the clouds hung low over the mountains and the coasts were under mostly blue skies. The waves looked a little rough but not as bad as the last two days in Haleiwa. On the way to Princeville where our condo is we passed the Kilheau Lighthouse and had to stop. So gorgeous! Hoping to catch a nice sunset at this spot.

Checked in to the condo. Such a nice place and, of course, gorgeous views. There is a path down to the beach (Hideaways Beach) and we haven’t tried that yet. Will have to check that out later. Maybe in the morning. We took a trip to the local market and picked up a few things to tide us over, came back and unpacked and planted on the patio for the sunset. Deciding to eat in and nosh tonight, I fixed a plate of goodies and popped a bottle of wine. The clouds were really looking like they were going to take front and center yet again but at the last minute BOB popped out of the bottom of the clouds and shined bright.

As we sit here now, it’s been raining all evening. I love listening to it, just not going out in it. We’ll see what it looks like in the morning. Oh and one thing I have neglected to mention up until now, that that it’s been hot and humid the entire time we’ve been here. Apparently, that’s unusual for this time of year. I was so hoping we had left hot and humid back in Virginia. But at least back home we have air conditioning. They don’t here. Lots of places at least have added it to the bedrooms. Thank God for small favors. It’s been interesting to say the least.
(Edited to add this map – for future reference.)

Night.
