Pretty uneventful day for us today. Bob woke up not feeling great. His ear has been bothering him for a couple of weeks. He assumed it was wax buildup but we may be rethinking that theory. He’s now sounding like he’s got the crud I started with 2-1/2 weeks ago. Yup, still coughing. Thankfully, I feel better although my energy level is still not back 100%. I got my oils out and started him on them and gave him some ibuprofen before going down to breakfast. We planned to meet on the dock around 9am to grab a taxi to Eagle Beach to just hang out for the day. Bob thought he read (on the internet – apparently he believes what he reads on the internet too) it was about 45 minutes away from the pier. It was less than 15. He also thought he read you could snorkel from the beach. Our taxi driver said you could if you wanted but there was nothing to see but sand. Alrighty then. Wasn’t a big deal we just wouldn’t have brought our snorkel gear with us. By the way, in Aruba there is a limit of 5 passengers allowed in a taxi. Law. We had to have two taxis.

The beach was really pretty and the water was clear. It was colder than I thought it would be but not too bad. We rented chairs and an umbrella and planted for a while. About 12:30 the Williams’ left and headed back to the ship needing to check Jeff’s sugar and make sure he was okay. We stayed another hour or so before calling it quits. This afternoon Bob napped, rested and read and I caught up on journaling and read a little. The afternoon went quickly and before we knew it, it was time to dress for dinner.

What an adventure the rest of the gang had this afternoon! They had to traipse around the city (on foot) looking for a pharmacy that carried the testing strips Jeff needed because he only had two left. He thought he brought enough for the trip but his sugar has been wacky this week so he’s gone through more than normal. They had a day and a half. And Jesse’s legs got burned while walking this afternoon so he was miserable at dinner. The rest of him was ok but the bottom half of his legs weren’t very happy. DE’s head looked much better – still red but not glowing tonight. Bob wasn’t feeling so hot either. It was sort of a quick dinner tonight. I had some stuff shells that were really good and a warm chocolate lava cake (with ice cream) for dessert. It was pretty yummy. Antonio’s magic trick tonight was every bit as amazing as the last two nights. He gave me a toothpick and told me to break it. I did. He then wrapped another whole toothpick in a napkin and told him to break that one through the napkin. Sarah verified that I did indeed break it. He set the napkin on the table, waved his hands over it saying “abra ca dabra,” shook the napkin out and a whole toothpick fell out. Whaaaaat? The man is multi talented. He had his guitar tonight and serenaded his tables with Elvis’ “My Way” before dinner. Then sang Happy Birthday to one of the passengers. That’s always cool because a lot of the dining room ends up joining in to sing too.

We pulled out of port at 8:00 tonight and it looks like it’s going to be an early night. Which is fine with me. Tomorrow is the ECHO Tour in Caracao and a sunset cruise. 🙂
