There is no pier at George Town so you have to tender to shore. It’s a PITA. And the last tender back to the ship leaves at 3:30 so we really didn’t have that much time on the island anyway. We had an excursion picked out but got delayed getting on the first tender out and the one behind it was late so the bus had to leave without us. We just walked around town and did a little shopping (we each got a hat) then headed back to the ship for lunch. There were 4 (Bob had read 5 were scheduled) ships in that day. It was a madhouse.

Back on the ship we ate lunch in the buffet and enjoyed a leisurely afternoon hanging out. We napped, snacked, read, had a drink or two and chilled. For dinner we decided to suck it up and dress for Blu. Glad we did – was worth it. Even though it was around 6:30 (prime time) when we arrived it didn’t take long to be seated. The place was hopping though. It’s considerably larger than Blu on the Summit. But the food and service was just as good. No food porn pics for tonight. πŸ™‚

After dinner we milled about until it was time to head to the theater for tonight’s entertainment, Broken Strings. It looked like it was going to be a play from the stage set up but we knew there was singing and dancing mixed in as well. It ended up being, well I’m still not sure. It wasn’t even a musical I don’t think. If there was a storyline I totally missed it. It was just singing and dancing, one song after another for 45 minutes. I think there was somewhat of a story in there somewhere, supposedly. Bob looked at me after 30 minutes and asked if I understood what was going on. Other than the main couple breaking up and getting back together I didn’t know. Poor guy – he said, “Oh, I didn’t even get that.” LOL Don’t get me wrong, what they did was excellent. Lots of talent there. But it just didn’t seem to have any eggs holding the whole thing together – at least for me.

Once we got out into open waters the swells got bigger and the ship was rockin’ and rollin’ a little bit. It was so nice. We went up to the observation lounge with our books and hung out up there for a while before coming back to the cabin. I love being rocked to sleep.

Some comparisons between the two ships we’ve seen so far:

The captain is not visible at all. Most everyone else we’ve come in contact with on the ship has been very friendly and accommodating. But it’s definitely not the same feel as the Summit, which has a more intimate feeling to it. The Reflection, though, is an amazing ship. It’s gorgeous and big and you can always find a quiet spot if you want one. The spa here is a real spa (Summit was not built for a spa but it was added in recent years). The buffet on the Summit was good. The buffet on Reflection is amazing – for a buffet. Summit seemed to have more going on for guests to participate in on sea days. Sea days on Reflection is majorly low-key. Bottom line is both have their pros and cons.

Next day …
