It was a free day today. We had nothing planned. Meaning no excursions or nothing we had to do at a certain time. Last year when we were here we had an all day island tour (which was fantastic – link here if you are interested) and then Bob and I went back out for dinner since the ship didn’t sail until 11:00pm. So we wanted to have time to just walk around town and check out the sites. Willemstad is such a beautiful town. It’s so colorful and happy. After a nice breakfast in Blu we headed out around 9:30.
We manage to pick up most of the gifts we were looking for – still have a couple to find. Probably the neatest souvenir we brought back is a little piece of wood that’s hand painted and customized with our names on it. We love coming home with special items from our travels that is unique to that area. This fit the bill.

We had lunch at a little cafe on the water – nothing special, local beer (Presidente) and spicy tuna wraps – while watching people and the floating bridge open to let boats through. (Video) Just an ordinary day on a Caribbean island. LOL

On the way back to the ship this “Love Heart” is right by the bridge. Guess we’ll be bringing a heart back with us next time we visit (if we can remember!)

Beautiful shot of a gorgeous ship …

We got back to the ship about 2:00 and enjoyed an afternoon of leisure. Oh we did do something productive. We booked another cruise!! Imagine that! December 2019 – a 12 nighter out of Fort Lauderdale. So exciting!
We met Sarah and DE down at Blu for dinner – another wonderful meal, service and company. We all had the pork tenderloin tonight – it was da bomb! Sarah and I had some kind of coffee creme brûlée that rocked! Bob had a pear cobbler and DE got a chocolate cheesecake. We waddled out of there into the lounge to listen to some guitar music before find a seat in the theater for tonight’s show, “Jesse Hamilton.” That guy was ah-may-zing!! He can sing anything. The ladies (especially the ladies on the front row) LOVED him. He said some soul, R&B, disco, broadway, Ella Fitzgerald, Al Green, Lionel Richie. I don’t think there’s anything he can’t do. He actually played Simba in the Lion King broadway musical for six years. Gave me chills. The entire front row turned into new groupies he was so loved.
Back in the room we’re gearing up for a snorkel day tomorrow in Bonaire. It’s going to be an early morning so I better get to bed and get some shuteye. So, …
Nite!
Next day …
