Back in January of 2016 we closed on our little cabin in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We had been looking for an investment property for about a year when this little gem became available. After some of (or let’s be honest, a LOT of) dogs we had looked at we were thrilled to find this one. The weekend we closed on it snow fell and gifted us with a gorgeous winter wonderland to enjoy.

Since then we have been making some improvements and put our own personal stamp on it. We’ve had several wonderful family times there already and looking forward to many more. Most of our trips, however, have been working trips. One of the first rooms to tackle (the easiest) was the living room. New living room furniture was delivered in November of the same year. I love how it brightens up the room!

In April 2017 we started painting the bedrooms. I chose this warm vanilla that compliments the natural wood trim and used it everywhere – bedrooms and bathrooms (including ceilings). I couldn’t be happier with the results. The walls were a medium green with a medium gray ceiling (who paints a ceiling gray?). All paint was the original paint from 2007 when it was built. It took us a year to get all the bedrooms painted and the two connecting bathrooms. This past week we also installed new log bedroom furniture for all three rooms and added wood blinds. The transformation is amazing!

We took some time to visit the park the last couple of days. Cades Cove is an hour and a half from us, and one of our favorite spots in the park, so we got up early and was at the entrance by sunrise, hoping to see some morning fog/mist and animals. No clouds but we did see lots of deer coming out for their breakfast, turkeys and birds. We’ve seen bear there in the past but none this day.

The next morning we chased a sunrise and drove out to Newfound Gap, one of the few places in the park popular for a sunrise. There weren’t any clouds in the sky so it wasn’t a dramatic, color filled sunrise but beautiful nonetheless.

That’s all for this trip. On our way to get some baby love now (Rowan just turned 5 months!). Until next time …
