We had scheduled a guided walking tour through historic downtown at 10:30am with Michael of Charleston Footprints this morning. There were 15-20 in our group as we made our way through these gorgeous cobblestone streets lined with incredible historic homes. Michael has an amazing wealth of knowledge in his head regarding, well, all kinds of things. As a seventh generation local he was able to wind his personal stories of growing up with the history of the buildings, city and streets. He had a story for everything. We loved the time we spent with him and highly recommend him if you’re in the area and are looking for a guided tour.

After the tour we hit up a little local dive, Brown Dog, for lunch and it was delicious! Great choice! Then we walked some more, retracing some of our steps for more photography ops. This is definitely something we could do again. The buildings, streets, trees, everything is just so pretty. And the smells! Oh my goodness. Lots of the trees and vines were in bloom and nearly all of them have an amazing fragrance. It is one good smelling city!

By the time we got back to the car we had put over five miles on these little tootsies and they were talking to us. Thankfully, we had time to recharge before finding a place for dinner while hopefully watching the sunset. Huh, that didn’t work out so well. Apparently a LOT of other people had the same idea and they acted on their idea earlier than we did. So we didn’t get our nice dinner with a sunset. We settled for a little Mediterranean cafe instead. It was okay but nothing to write home about.
Next day …
