We were booked for an Acadia Photo Safari this morning. We were to meet Josh at Sand Beach at 8am sharp. There were only 6 in the group so it was very intimate and personal. Josh was an amazing teacher and this was truly a beginner “class.” Josh is extremely patient and loves to help people get more familiar and comfortable with their cameras at any level. So he went through the basics for about a half hour before we ventured down to the beach to begin experimenting with different apertures and shutter speeds. After leaving Sand Beach we went to Monument Beach, Otter Cove and Otter Point. Most of those places Bob and I had scoped out the day before but every day the weather is different so the pics look different. All in all the class was very informative and fun – taking pictures is always fun.

There is pair of Peregrine Falcons nesting on a cliff right at Precipice Hike. Rangers usually man this area in the parking lot 9am-12pm most mornings. They have a couple of scopes set up for people to look through. It was little after 11:00 when we finished up with Josh and Bob really wanted to see those falcons so we drove all the way around the park to get to them before noon. Most of this park is one way so if you want to see something again, you basically have to drive all the way around again – which means you have to come through the gate where people are still buying passes to get into the park. There is on fast lane for those already having their passes. It took us nearly 20 minutes just to get through the gate there were so many cars. We did make it to the Precipice Hike parking lot before the rangers packed up but there was nothing to see. No activity on the nest. So that was a dud. Deflated we drove to Otter Point to eat our sandwiches and chill on a rock enjoying the view for a while (until the rock got too hard on our behinds and the sun too hot on our shoulders – well, we enjoyed that about as long as we could stand it. LOL)
On the way out we stopped at this cool bridge to snap a few more pictures. Another very cool and beautiful spot.

Back home by 1:30 and hung out relaxing and recharging this afternoon.
