Saturday (June 22) – For some reason I woke up at 5:15 this morning and it was bright enough to be mid morning at home. I checked the clock and couldn’t believe it said only 5:15. Now I know the sun comes up early here, but really? It was already high in the sky in about half and hour. Crazy! I tried to go back to sleep but it just wasn’t happening – gonna be a long day.

Walked back to Cafe This Way for breakfast. It was so yummy. The car was already packed up and it felt like all too soon we were saying goodbye to this awesome little town that stole a piece of our heart. We WILL be back. (Hell, I’d stay the entire summer if I could. I loved the cooler temps up there.)
On the way to Lincoln, New Hampshire we went through Conway and drove the Kancamagus Highway. We had read some wonderful things about this drive. There were a couple of pretty views but otherwise we weren’t overly impressed and don’t feel the need to drive it again. We are checked into our room at the Kancamagus Lodge. I will have so say I am missing that view from Bar Harbor. We have a balcony. Over top of the bar eating area. Overlooking the highway we came in on. The traffic is pretty constant. Oh well. We won’t be here much anyway, right? (Riiiiiiiight. Stay tuned.)

There are a tons of places to eat around here and when we discovered reviews on the Woodstock Brewery that sealed the deal for us on where we wanted to go for dinner. Sigh. It wasn’t meant to be. Even though it was pretty early (before 6pm) that place was packed to the gills AND there wasn’t a parking spot to be had. (We’ll have to try that again tomorrow and be earlier.) So we kept driving until we came across the Gypsy Cafe down the street. They had a parking spot. The name is fitting – it has the feel of an eclectic hippie cafe. Both of us ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were very good.
Back in our room we did a little more research and planning for the next three days. Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty but crazy windy. Will see what it brings …
