Sea Day – Slept in until about 8:30 this morning. Neither one of us seemed to be able to get moving. Losing an hour last night didn’t help I’m sure (we had to turn our clocks one hour ahead). Since we had to have our bags out in the corridor by 11pm tonight we figured we might as well get that monkey off our backs and pack as much as we could. It was quite an unpleasant duty. By the time we got through that it was time for lunch.
It was such a pretty day, compared to the rest of the week; we just walked around the ship and enjoyed it. We ended up grabbing some burgers from an outside café for lunch. It felt good to sit outside and eat. It gave us a taste of what a warmer weather cruise would be like.
After lunch we went to the Cosmo with our books to enjoy the view and read a little. I had a coffee with Bailey’s and Bob had a beer. It was so cool to see two other cruise ships through the fog, watching them fade in and our of view – I finally got to take some pictures today and it felt good! Needless to say, I didn’t get any reading done (only about 10 pages) because I couldn’t stop looking at the views. It made me realize even more what we didn’t get to see this past week because of all the rain and fog.
Bob had been looking forward to the premiere of NFL season today and was hoping to find the game on one of the TVs on the ship. The only place we could find was the TV at the bar inside the casino, which held about 12 seats. So we came back to the room to see if we could get it (Green Bay – New Orleans) on our TV. The signal was spotty and it was in and out. I decided to take a little power nap. After showering and getting ready for dinner I took a few minutes to go to the upper deck and snap a few more shots of the view – the sun was setting and the moon was coming up. It was beautiful!
Dinner was interesting tonight. One couple we sat with was older – yeah, I know, imagine that. The other couple was in their 60’s and they were strange creatures. She doesn’t like to travel and just sounded like she isn’t a happy person in general. The man bitched about all the old people on the ship. The older couple (they both were at least in their mid-seventies) was very personable but I don’t think they quite knew what to make of the strange couple. The man actually did the zip-line in Ketchikan yesterday and loved it! Said he’d definitely do it again if he got the opportunity.
We skipped the show tonight and came back to the room to finish getting everything together and out in time. So I’m packing up now. We have to disembark at 8:05 in the morning and catch our shuttle to Seattle.
This cruise has been amazing (minus the crappy weather). I have loved it – the convenience, the pampering, the food, the service, entertainment, everything. Our cabin attendant, Elton, did an amazing job making us feel pampered and special. Between the room service, turning our beds down every night (with chocolate left out for us), clean rooms every day, etc. I am looking forward to our next cruise already. I don’t know when or where it will be but there will definitely be another one in our future. It’s an awesome way to travel.
